Stettler, nicknamed “The Heart of Alberta”, recently played host to the 2019 Alberta Scotties Tournament of Hearts.
This small town, located about 101km East of Red Deer, saw some tremendous competition from teams across Alberta, with the eventual crown going to Canadian champion Chelsea Carey, with a commanding 8-3 win in the final. Carey went on to represent Team Alberta at the national Scotties Tournament of Hearts where she, again, was the victor.
We’re extremely proud to note that our very own Valerie Ekelund was competing up until the Semi-Final stage. Pinchin Ltd., a proud sponsor of Valerie’s team since its inception 5 years ago, is always eager to tout our love of a solid work-life balance for our employees. Sponsoring Valerie and her teammates for an event of this esteem was an easy decision for us to make.
Valerie, a Calgary-based Project Manager with our Environmental Due Diligence and Remediation (EDR) team, has been with Pinchin Ltd. for over 8 years, and is obviously a very skilled curler in her own right, curling for over 19 years, and plays Lead for Jodi Marthaller.
A great place to work is a company that supports the dreams of its employees. Thanks to the support of Pinchin Ltd. … Without the long time sponsorship and support of my managers and colleagues, I wouldn’t be able to chase this dream, and I was so proud to finally wear the Pinchin logo on Sportsnet this weekend!

Outside of her curling expertise, Valerie’s professional specialties in EDR encompass environmental site assessments of commercial and industrial properties, operating approval monitoring programs, and risk management and remediation. Way to go Val. We can’t wait to watch you compete again.
