Bulletin: Changes to Toronto’s Sewer Use By-Law and Pollution Prevention (P2) Planning Requirements

P2 Planning is a requirement for specific Industrial, Commercial and Institutional (ICI) sectors that discharge wastewaters to the City of Toronto sewers. P2 Plans are also required for facilities that discharge wastewaters containing any quantity of “Subject Pollutants” as defined in the By-Law.

The City of Toronto (City) is currently notifying businesses via mail regarding proposed changes to the By-Law.

Are you in compliance?

Over the past year, several stakeholder consultations were held to collect feedback regarding changes to the By-Law. Later this year, Toronto Water will present a report to City Council recommending the proposed By-Law changes which could reduce or eliminate the requirements for you to prepare P2 Plans.

Contact us if you would like to know more about the By-Law, Pollution Prevention or determine whether you are in compliance with the By-Law limits or P2 Planning requirements.

We will also be holding a complimentary breakfast seminar on December 1st that will explain the By-Law requirements and the proposed changes.  We would be happy to discuss your needs in person.
