Why the IEA Pathway to Net-Zero Carbon Emissions Should Include 5th Generation District Energy Systems

The International Energy Agency (IEA) recently published a report entitled “Net Zero by 2050 – A Roadmap for the Global Energy Sector” that has caused some ripples within the industry and construction sectors. We thought it was worthwhile to pick out some of the highlights in the report as they relate to the commercial and residential sector. One of the key takeaways is that 50% of heating demand is to be provided by heat pumps by 2045. A great way for efficiently implementing heat pumps is through 5th Generation District Energy (also known as Ambient-temperature District Energy), pioneered by Pinchin.
