Valerie Johnston is Pinchin’s Operations Manager for the Oshawa and Peterborough offices. A lifetime Pinchiner, Valerie has been an invaluable role model for her teams since she was hired as a Project Technologist in 2004. Honest, professional, and meticulous, she has proven to be a strong leader in operations management and continues to improve our operational processes in her region.
Never one to turn down an opportunity for professional growth, Valerie understands the necessity for learning and skills development in a rapidly evolving environmental consulting landscape. After attaining her Bachelor of Science Degree in Archaeological Science from the University of Toronto in 2001, she then attended Conestoga College for her Post-Graduate Environmental Engineering Applications Diploma. Valerie has pursued her career interests, and is involved in several organizations, publications, and projects relating to her field of study. This includes her membership in the Ajax/Pickering Board of Trade; Infection Prevention & Control Canada (IPAC); the Oshawa and Whitby Chambers of Commerce; AIHA and ACGIH; and CaGBC Toronto.
In addition to her organizational commitments, Valerie has successfully led Pinchin courses on mould assessment and remediation, indoor air quality, building certification standards, and infection control. She is a LEED Accredited Professional (BD+C), a WELL Accredited Professional, and is a Registered Occupational Hygienist.
However, it is not her impressive array of knowledge and experience that makes Valerie so great at what she does. Through her integrity, problem solving, and team-building efforts, she has doubled her staff in the Peterborough and Oshawa offices over the past two years. She has the professional and social flexibility to work not only with a diverse set of employees but also a diverse set of clients and projects.
In her capacity as Operations Manager, Valerie manages the staff and day-to-day operations of her offices. She trains and mentors her employees and works with clients on a local scale as well as a national scale. Clients gravitate to her because she is reliable and responsive, someone who can be up front in her dealings but who also can provide cost-effective solutions to any environmental consultancy problem.
